Quick Answer
- Auth Plugin Settings has four tabs: General, OAuth, Email, and Brand.
- The Email tab shows a live preview of the Welcome email, with a headline, body copy, a green "Get Started" button, a support contact line, and a footer, all driven by whatever you set in the Brand tab.
- The Brand tab has five fields: App Name, Logo URL, Primary Color, Button Text, and Support Email.
- Saving any tab shows a toast reading "Settings saved successfully!"
- The tab is named Brand, and its button-color field is labeled Button Text.
Several posts on this site already mention that Auth Plugin's transactional emails are branded, the setup guide, the OTP and Magic Link post, the branding and profiles post, and the setup errors post, twice. None of them have actually walked through the Auth Plugin Settings panel tab by tab, so that's what this post does: what's really in each tab, in the order they appear, sourced from the live panel in the Auth Plugin dashboard.
What Are the Four Auth Plugin Settings Tabs?
Settings opens to four tabs across the top: General, OAuth, Email, and Brand. General and OAuth get a short summary here, with links to the posts that cover each in full. Email and Brand are covered in full below.
What's in the General Tab?
General holds Website Name (a text field, placeholder text "My Workspace"), Domain (a text field, placeholder text "mysite.com"), and a section called Auth Page Paths with Sign-In Page Path and Sign-Up Page Path underneath it. Those two path fields, what they control, and how they interact with a component's own Redirect Path, are already covered in full in the paths post. This post doesn't re-explain them.
What's in the OAuth Tab?
OAuth holds a Google OAuth toggle (On, on the checked instance), a Client ID field, a Client Secret field with a show/hide eye icon, and below both, an info box showing the OAuth callback URL your Google Cloud Console project needs to match: https://api.authplugin.io/v1/oauth/callback. Getting a working Google sign-in flow set up from this tab is already covered in full in the OAuth guide. Google is currently the only OAuth provider this tab, or Auth Plugin generally, supports.
What's Actually in the Email Tab?
This is the first tab that hasn't been shown in full anywhere else on this site. At the top, a line of subtext reads: "This is how your emails will look. Update Logo, Color, App Name, and Support Email in the Brand tab." That's a direct pointer telling you the Email tab is read-only, a preview, everything you'd actually change lives one tab over.
Below that subtext sits an Email Preview box, rendering a sample Welcome email exactly as a real recipient would see it:
- A headline: "Welcome to Example App!"
- Body copy: "Hi John, Thank you for signing up! Your account has been successfully created. We're excited to have you on board."
- A green "Get Started" button.
- A support line: "If you need help, contact us at
support@yourapp.com" - A footer: "© 2026 Example App. All rights reserved."
Every one of those values, the app name in the headline and footer, the support address, the year, is just the example content on the checked instance, not a fixed default baked into the email template. Change App Name and Support Email in the Brand tab and the preview updates to match, since the whole point of this tab is showing you the result of those settings before a real email goes out.
Below the preview, a heading reads "All email types use your branding:" followed by four rows. This confirms and completes what the OTP Form post already mentioned in passing about the same four types:
- Welcome: sent after sign-up.
- Password Reset: sent when a user requests a reset.
- Magic Link: sent for passwordless sign-in.
- OTP Code: sent for code verification.
All four pull from the same Brand tab values, so there's one place to set branding, not four.
What's Actually in the Brand Tab?
Five fields, in order:
- App Name: a text field, "Example App" on the checked instance. This is the name that appears in the Email tab's headline and footer.
- Logo URL: a text field, empty by default, with placeholder text "
https://example.com/logo.png". - Primary Color: a color field,
#9EE86Fon the checked instance, shown with a color picker that breaks it down as RGB 158/232/111. - Button Text: a color field,
#000000on the checked instance. Despite the name, this isn't a text-content field, it's the text color used on email buttons like "Get Started." - Support Email: a text field, empty by default, with placeholder text "
support@yourapp.com." Helper text underneath reads: "Shown in email footers. Users can contact this address for help."
Every one of these five is a normal, editable field. "Example App," the #9EE86F green, and the black button text are just what one checked instance happened to have set, not values Auth Plugin ships as permanent defaults. Set your own app name, upload your own logo, pick your own brand color, and the Email tab's preview reflects it.
The broader work of matching your whole sign-in and account experience to your brand, beyond just these five fields, is covered in the branding post.
What Does the Docs Page Add About Logo Size?
Auth Plugin's branding settings docs recommend a square or horizontal logo, sized around 200x50px, hosted on your own domain or a CDN. That's a real, useful recommendation, worth following when you set Logo URL. It's worth being clear about where it comes from: that sizing guidance is stated on the docs page itself, not something the live Logo URL field shows you in the panel. The panel just gives you an empty text field and a placeholder URL, no size guidance in the UI itself.
Two Small Naming Notes
Two small naming details, worth knowing before you go looking for either one in your own dashboard.
The tab in the Settings panel is labeled Brand.
The field controlling the text color used on email buttons is labeled Button Text.
What Happens When You Save Auth Plugin Settings?
Clicking "Save Settings" on any tab, General, OAuth, Email, or Brand, shows a toast confirmation reading "Settings saved successfully!" It's a small detail, but a useful one if you're not sure whether a change actually took, watch for that toast after saving.
Common Mistakes
- Trying to edit branding from the Email tab. The Email tab is a preview only. App Name, Logo URL, Primary Color, Button Text, and Support Email all live in the Brand tab.
- Looking for a tab called "Branding." It's labeled Brand.
- Expecting Button Text to be an editable label. It's a color field, the text color on email buttons, not the button's wording.
- Assuming the docs page's logo size guidance appears in the panel. It doesn't. The 200x50px recommendation comes from the docs page, not the live Logo URL field.
- Not checking for the save confirmation. "Settings saved successfully!" confirms the save went through, across any of the four tabs.
FAQ
How many tabs does Settings have?
Four: General, OAuth, Email, and Brand.
Can I edit branding directly from the Email tab?
No. The Email tab only previews what your emails look like. Every branding value it reflects, App Name, Logo, Primary Color, Button Text, and Support Email, is set in the Brand tab.
Which four email types use my branding?
Welcome, Password Reset, Magic Link, and OTP Code. All four pull from the same Brand tab values.
What is the Settings tab called?
Brand.
What does the Button Text field actually control?
The text color used on buttons inside your branded emails, like "Get Started." It's a color field, not editable button copy.
Where does the recommended logo size come from?
Auth Plugin's branding settings docs recommend a square or horizontal logo around 200x50px. That guidance is on the docs page, the live Logo URL field itself shows no size recommendation.
How do I know a settings change actually saved?
A toast reading "Settings saved successfully!" appears after clicking Save Settings, on any of the four tabs.
The Short Version
Auth Plugin's Settings panel has four tabs: General (Website Name, Domain, Auth Page Paths), OAuth (the Google toggle, Client ID, Client Secret, and callback URL), Email (a live preview of the Welcome email plus a list of the four branded email types), and Brand (App Name, Logo URL, Primary Color, Button Text, and Support Email). The Email tab is read-only, everything it shows comes from the five fields in Brand, all of them plain editable values with no fixed defaults. Saving any tab confirms with a "Settings saved successfully!" toast. The tab itself is named Brand, and its button-color field is labeled Button Text.
